Social bathing in Medellín: the city's few shared bathing spaces
Medellín has few shared bathing spaces: a sauna and cold plunge club in Provenza, the wet zone on a Via Primavera rooftop and a group temazcal in Guarne. What each operator publishes.

Few shared spaces, nearly all in El Poblado
Medellín has neither New York’s public bath history nor Buenos Aires’s century-old house. Today the city has few social bathing spaces: two in El Poblado sell a shared room to anyone passing through, and a group steam ceremony takes place in Guarne, outside the city. Medellín also has infrared studios, physiotherapy and recovery clinics and colivings with a sauna for residents, which sit outside this guide.

The climate of the “city of eternal spring” is mild all year. Both urban spaces follow the contrast format, with swimwear and a sequence of heat, cold immersion and rest. For how that cycle works when the room and the tub are shared, read the contrast cycle in a shared circuit.

1. Sauna Space: shared sessions in Provenza
Sauna Space presents itself as Medellín’s first social club built around wellness. It is on the fourth floor at Cra. 34 #8a-15, in Provenza, El Poblado. Sessions are shared. The site lists a Finnish sauna at around 85 °C (185 °F), two cold plunges held between 4 °C and 8 °C (39–46 °F) and a recharge lounge with a bar.
A single session, according to the site, starts at COP 100,000 and gives about two hours of access to the sauna and the plunges, with free time in the lounge. There are packs of 3, 5 and 10 sessions and a monthly Founders Membership (COP 375,000 on the site, with limited places). The circuit the house suggests is 10 to 15 minutes of heat, 1 to 3 minutes of cold, about 10 minutes of rest and hydration, repeated three or four times.
Yoga, meditation and breathwork appear on the calendar. Swimwear is required. Published hours: Monday to Friday, 4pm to 10pm; Saturday, 9am to 8pm; Sunday, 9am to 9pm. The site opens slots about seven days ahead.
2. Celestino: the rooftop wet zone in Via Primavera
Hotel Celestino is at Cra. 37 #8a-54, in Via Primavera, El Poblado. On the rooftop the hotel has a shared sauna, jacuzzi and cold plunge, and the site says visitors who are not staying can buy a pass. The hotel’s spa advertises daily, weekly and monthly memberships for the sauna, jacuzzi and cold plunge alone. Reception gives the pass price and what it includes.
The rooftop runs every day from 9am to 9pm. Towels and showers come with access; bring swimwear and sandals. The spa’s massages also include rooftop access, but the treatments sit outside this guide.
3. Temazcal in Guarne: group steam
Outside the city, Colibrí Garden advertises temazcal ceremonies in Guarne, about 45 minutes from Medellín. According to the operator, the group gathers in a circle inside a wooden dome covered with blankets, with stones heated in a fire and steam under ritual guidance. Places are arranged with the operator over WhatsApp or Telegram.
It is steam bathing with a different genealogy, which works as a ceremony with its own rules rather than as a contrast day pass. Read the temazcal guide before booking.
